Re: Direct solar -> motor -> prop?

We're on the same page. I'm already in the midst of making my solar bimini (1200w). I cannot comment on your belt prop project.

I would not shell out all that dough on a Torqeedo. If I were you,...

Re: Prices not going down??

I think the answer you are looking for is the USD is the safe haven currency. It was in 08, in the beginning. What other dollar, in this situation, looks safer? It is a global virus.

People are...

Re: Wife gets sick with Diesel smell??

Well I guess I'll be the first to say it - get her smoking some weed!
Nausea gone and it masks the diesel smell! ;)

In all seriousness essential oils may be the solution. A wipe of...

Re: Multihull Weight Saving Stratagies

Thanks, I noticed that one too with the PDQ (wow, what a nice vessel!). Flip open a multihull mag and everyone's doing it. I would be interested in seeing some engineering specs and tests on models...

Does anyone know the the full cure time for two coats of ezpoxy topside paint before I can tape it off to do other sections? Online all I could find was a trailer sailor that said Pettit said 7 days...

Re: Multihull Weight Saving Stratagies

LifePart2, what's the current cost difference between the lithium or agm. Say for something like a Gemini 105? Basic systems, propane powered fridge and let's imagine no a/c (or instead use genny for...

Re: Boat Name Advice

I still think Double Entry is the best/worst name ever.

I've wanted to rename as Boat....just to be incredibly annoyingly confusing to people on the radio....sounding much like the scene in...

Re: Multihull Weight Saving Stratagies

Haa! I promise not adding, just swapping....and not for shoes but for rigid water toys.

Funny you mention it, nice breakdown on your blog there because I absolutely believe, have seen that, boat...

Re: Multihull Weight Saving Stratagies

Nice! Did you do any rudder mods due to the extensions? How was balance?
Have any before and after data, for speed, capacity etc? It seems motion is vastly improved, but the potential payload...

Re: Opinions on ex-racing boat

I may be biased but I think Hooked is a great example of a race boat with a wonderful cruising conversion. It is actually Wings's sistership.

The PO says he spent 150k on the cruising conversion...

Re: Potential Buyer Asking for a "Test Drive"

What percentage of brokers are captains?
To my knowledge not that many and I'd wager not the majority. Now, does the brokerage ensure having 1-2 in their office? Probably. However, the two different...

Re: Multihull Weight Saving Stratagies

Did you do some speed tests and weight tests before the transom conversion? That data would be cool to know.

Yes, I agree, inexpensive if you are experienced or say in a cruising destination with...

Re: Potential Buyer Asking for a "Test Drive"

Is there now a legal provision for putting down a deposit with a non refundable portion for a test sail/sea trial that doesn't cross the line of needing a captains license?

Because to my...

Re: Multihull Weight Saving Stratagies

How about adding some to lose some, by adding transom extensions?

We all know some owners added them and some builders also, ex. Seawind 1000 - 1000XL.

It seems added capacity aft sure would be...

They are old dock neighbors, a cool, sweet couple from the SF Bay, mentioned in L38 a lot, salvaged a...

Re: Boat buying blues (Rant)

Here ya go!

This first one, a Pearson 323 for just $7500! Is an example of a low cost fin keel boat with a nice outboard (4-stroke Yamaha 9.9hp. my favorite, the HT prop really has oomph)....

Re: Boat buying blues (Rant)

Imho, at 30k you shouldn't be going to brokers. For one, they get 10%...of course they.are going to push the higher priced boat. Secondly, most of them suck, sorry, I know there are some good ones...

Re: Conversation/Advice for Planning to Liveaboard

I've been aboard that model, a few times, not underway just at anchor and at their slip. It's such a nice layout. The owner's loved her and said she was well built and they hated parting with her...

Re: Pullman berths

I looked up a Bene 42 cc, a 2006 on yw. I assume it's that model?

Wow yeah, that pullman is more like for a single because of the foot.
Mine is literally a full (double) mattress we were able to...
