Barnakiel makes (I think) a worthwhile point. The truly important things are not tack-ons, but intrinsic: firstly the people and their attitudes, and secondly the boat and how it's put together... |

If you're handy at making stuff, a chain pawl is arguably better than a windlass for a single hander on a boat that size. Sometimes you want to get the anchor up (or more urgently, down) in a real... |
