I had standard calcium sealed batteries that lasted over 7 years on our last boat. New owners still using them and they test as new.

SunPower Solar Panels 2 x 230 watts.

New boat has AGM sealed...

Our electric Kettle is 1500 watts and we have a 2000 watt inverter. All works well.

2 good way to mitigate shading issues on a boat:

1) Wire Solar Panels in parallel to 1 mppt controller
2) Have a separate controller for each Solar Panel

I agree with having backup systems. We have a generator and high output alternators.

Solar Panels done right should never cause a windage problem.

Cruisers only have 3 ways to make power when cruising.

Solar = Silent, Maintenance free

Wind = Noisy + maintenance, down time and parts

Engine = Noisy + maintenance, down time, parts and...

I agree with being electrically frugal and we have always been that way.
We never draw our batteries below 12.4 (80%).

Solar panels make it easy to keep the battery bank full.

We use the electric kettle to just make hot water QUICK.
Coffee
Tea
Oatmeal

The sink wastes to much water when you need a cup of hot water.

THE SPEED that it makes hot water is what is so...

I agree. The factory should add more, but they do not want to change the LOOK of the boat.

I will be adding another 500 watts of solar myself, but for now all is working very well.

Just google it and you will see these same efficiency numbers.

Heating the saloon on a cold day is a good thing, but you also get a lot of condensation with the propane which is not a good thing on a boat.
