I was basing the rpm on the 2gm and 3 GM models which have a wot of 3500-3600.

Sorry but he was correct. A Yanmar is meant to be run continually at I believe 80-90% of wide open throttle, in other words maybe 2900-3000 rpm. This is well known knowledge with the Yanmar tech's....

I wouldn't say that paper charts are golden. I think paper and electronic both have their advantages. I do believe sailing with just electronic and not having paper as a backup is foolish.

Yes, we always have paper charts for where we are traveling and always will. Just, in my opinion the sensible thing to do. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I don't fully trust electronics.

What if you lose all battery power on a long voyage? Paper charts and a sextant and the knowledge to use it would be the basics. chart plotters etc. are modern conveniences. Nice to have but Not to...

You know recently Ive noticed that the steering wheel really gets in my way. As I have an autopilot and a couple of spares I've been thinking of leaving the wheel at home. What do you think?:popcorn:
