Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
This thread has been closed because it has become political discussion. If anyone learns that the cleanup has been accomplished, send a note, including the source, to one of the mods, and one of... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
A long time ago, on our previous Insatiable, we tried to tighten the keel bolts, not understanding properly why water ingress was happening, and I'd like to say, that even with the boat sitting on... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Kita, your chances of finding it will be maximized if you go at low water. If that picture of 4 or 5 submerged bits is what was left of Lagniappe, it will be hard to spot..... Good luck with it,... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
If there is a cruiser in the area, she or he could make a temporary isolated hazard mark, and take it out by dinghy and drop it in the middle of the wreck. We actually have done this, you need old... |

CAUTION: If you don't like straight talk, stop reading here. ________________ The loss of the boat was reported on the 10th of this month, and the month is almost over. Honestly, once the... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
I am pleased that Gofundme are apparently looking into the situation. There is no question in my mind that walking away from the wreckage would be a great tactical error for them. Whether they... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
Jim and i were talking about what they described, and I think the keel was still on when they abandoned, because the boat was trying to stay upright at that time. ....and I'd like to add, that... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
I keep asking myself, "Ann, if you were in their shoes, would you rather go bankrupt, and back to work, or try the gofundme? and go back to work anyhow?" Going bankrupt is a process that will... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
I agree with dewedeking that crowdfunding is an interesting phenomenon of modern society. I am one of those folks who lived frugally and saved, and eventually went cruising, where our ability... |

Re: Another Keel Lost; Another Capsize
@ Cully, post #23: Yes, if you have good reason to fear the loss of the boat or of life, that is a legitimate Mayday call. You must realize, the response is a lot slower than the 5 min. time aimed... |
