Actually, guys, I looked at the pictures again, and it looks as if they did salvage the boom and the mast, and most likely got the sails aboard after they got in the marina. Good on em!

You might be right about the mindset. However, perhaps it is more likely that the rescue service was not in a position to spend the time with them to accomplish it. Maybe with enough people on...
