As to Dave's comments and suggestions-

1. Via Device Manager, the GPS shows there (Prolific USB-to-serial comm port (com3).

2. Implimented the opencpn.ini file fix. O seems to be running OK...

Yes, my GPS is a BU-353 and was plugged into port COM3. The error message from O was "Could not open serial port COM3". So it would seem that O did not...

As a follow up question -

For openCPN under Properties, the Size of the folder is 1.81 KB, Size on Disk 8.00 KB.

I don't know what the difference would be, but either one seems small given...
