Re: Crowther 43 project

This weekend I fixed the holding tank and flushed it and took some other gear out of the bows, but there is still a lot up there and around 100kg of stuff in the port aft birth. The sterns are now...

Re: Crowther 43 project

What size ground tackle should I be using on this thing? It has a 80lbs CQR and about a 50lbs? delta on the bow. The chain is heavy gauge (need to measure it) and long. So what anchor and chain...

Re: Crowther 43 project

I would love to get to the bottom of the issue with the folding props. Why they were on the boat, and why they are so loose on the splines.

Re: Crowther 43 project

The spline count is correct and they slide on OK, but the gaps between the splines and hub is big enough that they wobble way too much for my liking. To me it would seem that there they would not...

Re: Crowther 43 project

Thanks guys. We launched her 2 hours ago from GCCM trying to get to Jumpinpin before dark. Hope to sail her tomorrow. Motors seem fine. We hit over 11K on a motor speed test. She had some...

Re: Crowther 43 project

Thanks SOS.

Lol 44c just realized what you meant about the waypoints from the south on the inside of crab island. I guess if we get the boat sailing we will go around, but if we are only...

Re: Crowther 43 project

Cool. Send us the waypoints if you can. :) We will probably keep inside the bay. Not going out to sea for the first run.

Re: Crowther 43 project

I was also looking in the states. Best deal there ATM is "whats up doc" a crowther 48 with wing mast for 200K.

Oh yeah it had to be a "performance boat". Which can be hard to find with the...

I am physically and mentally exhausted! Shane helped a LOT too. We would not have had it done this quick without him. He is coming with us too. Its just Nikki Shane and I.

We will try to meet...

Re: Crowther 43 project

Asking was $220K, I paid less. But not by a huge margin. In hindsight I should have lowballed harder, but this boat seemed to tick too many boxes for me to risk loosing.

Re: Crowther 43 project

Thanks. I was immediately struck by the design as something special and rare. Lloyd powell (cat factory) told me its a common design and many were built all around the world. But I cant seem to...

Re: Crowther 43 project

The bimini canvas is missing. I plan to make a light weight hard top for it eventually, but for now 4 x 200W solar panels will give us power and some shade.

After a lot of weighing up options...

Re: Crowther 43 project

No pics of the main bathroom unfortunately. I found the blue bench tops hideous in the kitchen, but in the hulls it looks ok. But it did not take me long to get used to it, now I think its...

Re: Crowther 43 project

A few people thought I was a bit mad buying this. If the engines were stuffed it might not have been a very good deal. But I was pretty confidant it would be OK. They turned over by hand etc so they...

Re: Crowther 43 project

Its was sold without running engines, and at a cost of $26K to replace them and the saildrives I took an educated gamble. But I was pretty confident I would get one or both working.

All I needed...
