Not sure what you mean by no computer can figure out the effectis of wind? If the data can be collected the computer can calculate it. Faster and with higher accuracy than a human.

No doubt celestial navigation is a skill. But likewise properly using a gps and or chartplotter is also a skill.

Driving into rocks and other boats while using a chartplotter is rarely a failure...

Here's a taster of an RYA course that might be a good primer. I am not 100% thrilled with it as the navigation section is short and it mixes in other skills (necessary skills)...
