Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
So if I don't mention something on my blog it didn't happen? Or is it that if I don't mention it I'm lying? And a sickness isn't an injury. None of us know what happened, and we don't have nearly... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
I'm not so sure that the "designed capacity" has anything to do with it. My boat's about the same size and has a 30 gallon designed capacity. I do, however, agree that if you're going to cross the... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
Jon wasn't the only one who missed that. I certainly didn't get it either. Delancy, if you're going to sarcastic, could you make it a bit more obvious? |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
I use 3 litres an hour cruising a Niagara 35 (similar size, but lighter than RH) at 5.5 knots. I don't know how much it would be at idle in neutral, but maybe more like a litre an hour? Where... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
You'll need to provide a reference to a reliable source. Otherwise you're just increasing the uncertainty. I'm sure I haven't seen that stated anywhere. |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
It isn't the truth, it's wild suppositions based on the small amount of often contradictory information that is currently available, mixed in with your personal opinions. Your post seems designed... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
I actually really hope that he does find a way to turn this into at least some income to help either replace RH or set up a new life on land. They lost everything and have been torn apart publicly. ... |

Re: Rebel Heart's contribution to the cruising community
Yes, absolutely. It needs to be one parent for the kids and one for the boat. the parents can alternate who's looking after which, of course, but it is pretty close to single-handing the boat and... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
Sorry, that was a very misleading quote. The average Cessna from 20 years ago had more advanced systems than the average yacht today. A 10 year old 747 (which is mostly what is flying today) is... |

Re: Rebel Heart's contribution to the cruising community
I think you raise two important points. You believe the risk outweighs the benefits. They did not. I agree with them. I think that the thousands of successful crossing with young children... |

Re: Rebel Heart's contribution to the cruising community
:thumb: Thanks for bringing in some facts. There aren't many around here! If it were me, I'd wash them in a bucket... in the sink. A bucket anywhere else is going to go flying. So perhaps she... |

Re: Rebel Heart's Contribution to the Cruising Community
Was the 311' long coast guard ship and its crew actually in danger? When was the last time a 311' coast guard ship went down in any sort of conditions? |

Re: Rebel Heart's contribution to the cruising community
They sure don't seem at all self centered to me. Nor does it seem like a total stuff up. Other than the sickness, of course. |

Re: Rebel Heart's contribution to the cruising community
All kids have to pay the price of their parents bad judgment, and all parents have bad judgment from time to time. Some are worse than others, of course. I would seriously question your... |

Re: Rebel Heart's contribution to the cruising community
At this point, I don't think we have enough information to really pick apart the decisions made. In my view, everything was actually going pretty well until Lyra got sick. She was cleared to go and... |
