About the only useful UHF radio service I can see for a small boat on a lake is the GMRS or FRS radio service. To learn about them see

Please elaborate on the frequencies and services to be received or transmitted at UHF bands from your boat. Is the UHF antenna to be provided as a combination with a VHF Marine Band antenna, that is,...
