The problem turned out to be pure operator malfunction. The selector valve does not work the way as I expected. If the selector valve is turned toward the the left...

Hmm - interesting thought. I didn't notice a screen at the top of the pickup. Will have to take the elbow apart to check.

Update. Some more data, lots more questions. Here's the latest on the troubleshooting efforts.

Checked the vent line - all clear. Then I used an electric fuel pump hooked up to the selector...

Update. I disconnected the fuel supply line from the port tank at the selector switch. Then I connected an air pump to test the line - no clogs - heard plenty of bubbles coming out in the tank. So...

The PO actually never used the Port tank after having both tanks replaced. It sounds like the pickup is the most likely suspect. How hard is that to pull and check?
