Why not some basic fault finding. Assuming the RC42 is connected to your autopilot, does your autopilot work? If yes, then nothing wrong...

Simnet is not Ethernet.
It is NMEA 2000 using Simrad's proprietary connector prior to their adoption of industry standard Micro-C connectors.

Do not confuse the Simrad Ethernet to RJ45 adapter...
