This is news to me !
In my time , early sixties, it was only British English that we have at school in France...
Perhaps they change it later but I'm not so sure

It's "Ça va ?" meaning "you're OK?"

The very formal way would be would be " comment allez vous?" or "comment vas tu?" meaning "How do you do?"

Sorry but you can say "au revoir" and be back in a couple of hour
if you say "adieu" you're not supposed to come back soon
BUT in some places in southwest France you can say "adieu" in stead of...
