Thanks, Pavel. I'll tinker with the missing dependencies and see what I can do but I've already installed the version from the Ubuntu Software Center and I'll try to get it working.

Thanks, Pavel. That was certainly much easier. I have two questions. The version on the Ubuntu Software Center was 1.4.3 while the current release version is 1.5.2. Do I care?

I read the manual pages about building from source. It said "you'll find that working from the GPSBabel SVN...

On the boat I run OpenCPN on an Ubuntu Linux laptop with a BU-353 GPS connected. I like to save my track at the end of the day, but there are two problems. Sometimes the BU-353 doesn't get a lock...
