??? I disagree. At the speed the boat is going by then, the rudders would have plenty of power.

The guy got through with a mixture of skill and luck. He almost got it wrong, almost was turned...

What a strange post! You say I'm wrong, in that surfboards don't have daggers or keels, then go on to say surfboard don't have daggers or keels!

In the video they were obviously trying to turn to starboard. They were caught in such a position that the effect of the rudders was being negated by push of the wave on the port quarter.

Bummer. Must have been caught at such an angle the rudders couldn't turn the boat down the wave.
