I like to wander round the boat and eyeball things.. various parts of the rig, sit up in the bow, check out flotsam from a higher vantage point.. check the horizon..

I sail solo/crewed with no tether, no life jacket..
However most here will likely use both.. plus foulies in lumpy weather and sea boots (Europe) coastal and offshore.. many are over 50 and mainly...

This has been speculated on and discussed since I joined CF and amongst folk I've known for years before.. lots of theories over the years but.. I've yet to hear off anyone who has actually tried it...

Single handed far offshore.. take a deep breath and swim straight down as far as you can.. breathe out then in as hard as you can.. its quite pleasant really..:biggrin:

He may just have taken them off after losing his LJ if long trousers.. and used them as a floatation aid for rest stops during his swim and discarded them for the last leg of the swim.
