Unfortunately not Nigel, there will be a maintenance crew of 12 on the rig (can't be wasting valuable downtime lol) but we will have another vessel with us should the unthinkable happen....

Agreed.....:thumb:

I know a few sailors that use the "weight" excuse for not carrying paper charts, yet seem quite happy to carry an extra 60lbs around there waist.....:D

I don't know where this info comes from re Navionics and C-MAP being constrained in obtaining updates from the relevent Hydrographic offices.......they receive notices from hydrographic offices all...

I have never seen a cruising sailor with even 5% of the charts that we carry on the ship, we have multiple folios that require both BA and AUS corrections and on average probably takes the second...

I think people need to distinguish between a Pilot Book and a Cruising Guide, while both supply information in a similar vein one is infinitely more detailed and designed purely to be used alongside...

Paper charts and Pilot books are joined at the hip, any navigational officer worth his salt will attest to this. When passage planning both charts and books share the same table...:)
