:thumb: Yep, clean up and hi temp paint that elbow on the weld if you want and continue on. I put a galvanized pipe elbow on my old Volvo many years ago, It lasted fine. Not the best area for SS......

Have the valves ground and let the shop deal with installing the spring, valves guides etc. It cant be much and you'll know hat you have, Well worth it. Who know, the engine may go a log time with...

Pull the head before removing the engine. It should take only a half hour or so. No need to presume the piston is damaged. Can you pull the valve in and out with the spring broken?

Did anyone ever figure out which engine this really is? Why not rebuild it? I don't know what a small Beta (Kubota marinized) costs but it's probably more than your boat is worth, I would guess $6k...

I would think you could have that head off in the time it takes to fool around with air etc....

I too would be pulling the head, cleaning and inspecting things, have the head tested and rebuilt if necessary. Cant cost much on a one cyl head.

Do it right, replace any gaskets. Check the push rod for straightness also.
