Thanks Jim as always, you know far more than I do, yes, that would make some sense and be perfectly safe. Being a production boat, would they be likely to have such a feature, they probably cost...

A boat for sale has an image below of the bilge which includes a keel bolt, so i assume it is the leading edge, I could be wrong, and then 6 or 7 seacock thru hull holes.
