Re: Balmar Regulator Failure
Thanks, again, Lloyd. That second paper from Cessna and from a fellow ham (Mike, WA7ARK) was very instructive. He did on a Cessna what I've wanted to do on my boat, but haven't had the time or... |

Re: Balmar Regulator Failure
Interesting stuff. Thanks, Lloyd. BTW, do you have any direct measurement data on the magnitude & timing of voltage spikes in a typical small/medium diesel starting and stopping circuit? The... |

Re: Balmar Regulator Failure
Lloyd, Ram... Yes, that's curious. I, too, have no affiliation with Balmar and have never seen a real 612 failure either on my own boat (11 years since the original install) or on many customer... |

Re: Balmar Regulator Failure
FWIW, my 7-year old 100A Balmar alternator w/Balmar MC-612H regulator delivers about 80A for hours on end when needed. My house bank consists of six T-105s in series/parallel, or 675AH total... |

Re: Speaking of Balmar . . . Another Regulator Bites the Dust
My MC-612 has lived in the aft cabin in a plexiglass-front teak box for the past seven years. It seems happy there wherever I've travelled (Caribbean and Maine to Florida and Bahamas). 29761 ... |

Re: Speaking of Balmar . . . Another Regulator Bites the Dust
You can emote all you like about how the regulator "ought to be marine grade" or "ought to be able to take it" or "it's rated at 145 degrees F safe working temp", but you're really sticking your... |

Re: Speaking of Balmar.. another regulator bites the dust..
My Balmar MC-612H will be 10 years old in September. It has been very reliable during that time, regulating a 100-amp Balmar alternator on my Perkins 4-108. It, too, is installed in a cool, dry... |
