I was just being facious. Commercial vessels in Australia are required to carry deviation Cards and have compass swung professionally. All private vessels generally just use their chartplotters. ...

Make sure when you are in the GBR area to spend some time cruising the actual reefs not just the contenital islands as most yachts do. Many, many excellent anchorages...

I think you will find paper charts (and electronic) for all the GBR reef area of Qld very good.
It has been well surveyed for the high level of shipping movements thesedays.

I am not from Port Phillip but North Qld and just using one of the smaller scaler harbour charts in Mr B's local area as a example of more detail than the very large scale ocean charts.

you made an earlier quote that there was much more info on electronic charts than paper.

It just depends on the scale of the paper charts. Get yourself the latest chart of Port Philip...
