I don't care about S-AIS for SAR for myself. I have a GPS EPIRB, PLB and I have included my YellowBrick tracking site and my current satphone number when I registered my EPIRB with AMSA

Marinetraffic looks like they have their own network of land based receivers. So they will also do the track storage from their own stations and therefore probably store all S-AIS they receive.

Maybe it's all fine and can be handled no problem. I just read that there is limitations with AIS as all stations must report in a particular time slot and within a set time.

I don't know why they don't offer S-AIS free for pleasure craft. No one tracking friends or family will pay the stupid rates which are obviously...

Not necessarily....

There is a limitation with AIS of how many transmissions can be received and it's possible that given the vast areas that S-AIS satellites cover, they could need to filter out...

Spot is rubbish for cruising.....

There is no speed data on the tracking site, it only shows a day or two tracking on the map and the coverage is not world wide.

Yellow brick is way better and...
