Not in my experience. Presumably you are planning on having a DC/DC converter with a 12v output. Well my experience on a previous boat was that the electronics and fridge actually ran better on 24v...

I can see a rapid discharge from a short of the positive cable on say the engine, but what else is going to give a rapid discharge to a pair...
