Depending on the mast and its hardware, it is sometimes possible to build a jib where the luff rope is made of strong, low stretch material (e.g. Spectra). If the halyard is of similar design then...

Small strong jib on the inner furler is the easiest to hoist and douse, next comes a small jib on the inner fore stay.

No way to add an inner, detachable forestay? Perhaps a 'structural' jib can...
