Because my shower base is close to the hull my sump is small and conveniently located so that the water never collects in it , inevitably collecting in the diametrically opposite corner depending on...

Not sure why one would want a foot switch , surely a simple on off is all that’s needed

Yes it’s a PITA , I changed mine to a switch
