Me neither , I tend to just use heading or hand steer if deep downwind or avoid the point of sail |

Which is despite 4 GPS , and a paddle wheel I carry my trusty Walker speed log. Equally you can estimate speed by timing a piece of paper in the water passing the length of your hull. !! |

True wind is best calculated using STW rather then SOG but only to dial out currents , tidal streams etc and essentially provide you with comparable numbers on both tacks On the open sea the... |
