Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

Lots of times the 15 and the 19 get lumped into the same category but they truly are quire a bit different. For example, the 15 has a centerboard and the 19 has a daggerboard. There is a lot more...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

"The manual is pretty unclear on the mast raising system they offer. It states that with roller furling, which I have, there have to be two people to raise the mast. I can't put much stock into that;...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

Some old depth sounding transducers required drilling a hole in the hull. Just don't want you to have to do that if you can get around it. Less holes in the hull the better.

We're on the same...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

"Thanks for the link, but I don't think I have any need for it. The shrouds are loose once I lower the mast anyway, and they are easy to detach without adjusting. I marked each of the four so I would...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

I find it much easier to leave the shrouds and backstay attached and bundle those together. You are way ahead of the game when it comes to readying for launching and everything is in adjustment...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

Well done and congratulations!

If you don't want to have that extra appendage of a windvane at the top of your mast just use yarn or old cassette tape on the shrouds for telltales. Also install...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

If you have any outdoor store that carries PFDs then go there and don't pay marine markup. REI is good but a lot of the big box discount stores have fishing supply stuff where PFDs can be had. Good...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

They only make 15s and 19s. The 15 is the old 14 and the 19 is the old 18. Once they added the length with the rudder attached it made them appear to be bigger in the marketing department.

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

"The prop guard is apparently to stop damage to the rudder when it's turned sharply. It's all new to me so I wasn't sure how common it was."

Along those lines I'd look into a system to join the...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

The photos show a nice clean boat. I like that prop guard on the engine. Pretty nifty.

Our club boat doesn't have a dodger. In our area a bimini would be a nice addition too!

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

"There's no mast raising system in place yet, but I might try to get one through IM, or failing that, make my own.
It is the original kick up rudder, but I expect it to be sufficient for me in this...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

If the WWP19 fits in your garage then it's the one for you. It will be a very inexpensive boat to keep in that regard. I can't think of other expenses other than trailer fees.

Good luck in your...

Re: Help inspecting a WWP19

I've sailed and owned both Catalina 22 (fin keeler) and our club WWP19. I don't fit as well in the WWP but if you are shorter than 6' and bend easily (younger) it might be the right choice for you. ...
