Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

Turns out Kubota made two different D1102 blocks. The early block is the one our 5424 was built upon. It uses a different cylinder sleeve than the later model and therefore a different head gasket....

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

Finally an update. We got the engine back from the mechanic last week and put the engine back in. Got the engine running after bleeding and working out the kinks. Ran great no smoke. Let it warm up...

Here's a link to a PDF shared with me by Gerry from white horse distribution. It has quite a bit of d1102...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

This bothers me as well but I'm not reassembling the engine to find out. I can assure you the valves were closed the rocker arm was slightly loose on the valve. I even back off the adjuster to make...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

The compression tester I have had an insert for the glow plug. So this is how I ran both tests.

Did a wet compression test today and got a serious increase in psi.
#1 went from 190 to 300
#2...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

Is it normal to get some air leakage from the valves with a leak down test? There's none detectable from the exhaust side. Is it possible the intake air could be coming a different route than around...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

Went sailing for a few days and only ran aground about 3 times. Getting pretty skilled at kedging.

The leak down and compression tester arrived and I performed some tests.

The batteries were a...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

Perhaps we did. On the purge stroke the exhaust valve should close just before tdc correct? And on the compression stroke they should both sit closed all the way to tdc? I'll pull the valve cover and...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

I wish those injector lines were crossed!

I can see the amp meter jump when the glow button is pressed. Plus I checked the voltage on them but not sure if they are really working. Will they be hot...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

Well the head is back on and the engine will not start.

Bled all injectors and getting a good spurtt there.

Set valve clearance using the flywheel method tc1 etc...

Compression readings are...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

We cleaned the head surface up today and checked the surface for warping. It passed with the spec .002 feeler.

The block was not quite as flat with some areas allowing the .002 but not .0025.

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

The head is off as of today. Cylinder #1 had an oily goo on the intake manifold side others were dry. Nothing else seems visibly wrong. I've attached pics. Please let me know if you see anything...

Re: Universal M30 white and black exhaust

I do not know of any over heating. The engine set for 5 years prior to my ownership. The PO had put one of those run-dry impellers on the water pump which fit poorly on the drive shaft. The impeller...

Universal M30 white and black exhaust

Our m30 is blowing some white exhaust when under light to heavy load. Everytime I check the coolant it is low. I plan on removing the head and I'm hoping it is just the head gasket. I also plan on...
