the wind force acts differently on different surfaces...

ie, a 5 mpg wind force on a 12" x12" flat plate is not the same on a curved plate of the same dimension..

wind can also be squeezed...

there are formula's to calculate force as a component of velocity...but it is not as simple as that...there are many variables that can detract or add to the final answer...

people are too focused on the wind speed...

in simple terms:

the wind "force" goes up as the square of wind "speed", so an incremental increase in wind "speed" provides a substantial increase...

I told him ...not much....falling off a 100' tall building and falling of a 120' tall building is going to get you...

I've heard that some of the area off shore oil rigs have reported 42' wave heights...

That would be hard to grasp.....I've seen 15-18' waves, and that was pretty impressive and very scary, but...
