Wire rope is the same as lifeline. Just use it instead of tearing apart a rope and inserting a wire in it. Wire rope is already coated and can be used as an insulator.

Believe it or not, there is this thing called an Alternative Backstay Antenna. However, I have heard that boats without backstays have either longer booms or the roach of the sail is more vertical...
