Citing dry weight of a cement slab? it is only as heavy as the difference between it's weight and the weight of the water it displaces. I'm with you unless it is buried it is not a very effective...

Thanks! That may be worth while for people to look into in their area. $130/yr. and the cost of a big anchor and chain is probably cheaper than losing a boat.

I grew up in a harbor where the individuals owned their moorings. Is that a thing of the past in the US. It worked out great for storms. A 300 mushroom anchor with chain and a pendulum buoy worked...

The problem with anchoring is not necessarily your ground tackle but the other guys.
