It isw not uncommon to have an alligator clip that slips onto a probe. Probably more common than not. Logic circuit not as much.

My favorite was always a Simpson 560. They are probably no longer make.

Absolutely, most things on a boat don't require a Fluke, maybe for bragging rights. I might pay a little more than $10 but not much.

Loop the wire in the jaws. I agree with you all the way. If someone does not know how to use a piece of equipment why have it. And very little is troubleshot to the component level. I better clarify...

Oh well, I guess it is nice for some to say they have a Fluke even if they don't have a clue about using it. :biggrin:

For general trouble shooting, if you need to ask the cheapest VOM you can find.
That was not meant to be demeaning. A Fluke is top of the line but the need for one questionable.
