You may have gotten away with that back when there were local registrar offices run by the old boys network. Now there is only one office in Ottawa and it's run by bureaucrats. I can't see that...

Just to clarify for the OP. That may be true for Thailand but many other countries also put a time limit on the boat.

The biggest catch to register the boat in Canada is finding a Transport Canada Appointed Tonnage measurer to measure it.
