Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
I've heard a report of a Spectra making about 1/2 of its rated output. Sailing Emerald Steel and LaVagabond both have watermaker videos on their youtube channel. Emerald Steel made their own at a... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Big problem with watermakers is that a good one with decent production easily costs $5000 plus considerable work involved with installation. This is where a cat shines, it is usually easy to collect... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Planning to return the washer/dryer combo at this time. Should be able to get by with something much smaller. Last week I was also thinking 53'....which has a lot more room than 45'. Heckuva... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Laundromats can be hard to find in many parts of the world. Many cruisers seek to avoid the marina scene like backpackers avoid the city scene. |

He did later acknowledge the mistake. At least he is not intentionally spreading misinformation from appearances. |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Looks like the washer has a 3.2 cubic foot capacity. I would guess that is a medium load on a larger home washer. I just did seven loads on a large home washer. Being an XL guy doesn't help any.... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
So.........much smaller washer/dryers are widely available. Perhaps I should make a new thread asking this question: "On a 45' boat with four adults, would you allocate 4 sq feet to a 220 volt... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Dang......so many viable options. I'm sure the small units would be fine for a couple. So I paid $150 for a unit that costs over $1000 new. Going back and forth about returning it. I have 30 days... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Have not heard about 50 cycles being dangerous to the heart. I've been mildly shocked dozens of times. I work with saltwater and am constantly unplugging and plugging in electrical stuff. Being... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Desalinators/watermakers are ridiculously expensive and tend to have problems. I think it is the 800 psi pumps and tubing that drive up the costs so much. Youtuber SailingEmeraldSteel is an... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Those Haeir units come pretty darned small. Hmmm. On another note, my L14-30P plug needs to be an L14-30R plug for my genset. They make so many different 220 volt plugs that it gets a bit... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
The Caribbean seems to be ideal cruising country in so many ways. Much more dog friendly than some parts of the South Pacific. My washer/dryer combo only has one electrical cord, that one is... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Learn something new all the time. How much, approx, do these "dual duty" washer/dryer units costs? Surprises like this are much of the reason that the bon voyage date keeps getting pushed back. ... |

Re: Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Just bought a stacked washer/dryer that appears to be little used for $150. I buy almost all appliances used and know that used stacked washer/dryers are hard to find in Colorado. I have never... |

Stacked washer/dryer takes 4 sq feet...worth it?
Not much else to say about this question. The dryer takes a 220/240 volt genset. Roughly half of the gensets/generators offer 220/240 volts. Four square feet is a significant space requirement on... |
