I have a few small projects... some sheets / halyards to replace... hose clamps... and finally a skipper for a day to get me over the first time out in Yaquina bay and crossing the bar jitters. lol

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

Yup! Got a 1983 Catalina 27 with a 5411 inboard Diesel! :)

One popped up here in Yaquina bay. It was priced a little high... thought the engine only had 800 hours and it had fresh bottom paint...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

Done a lot of reading on Catalinas and 27s-30s specifically. Lots of pros and cons. I know what i'm getting into. Either way a survey is required for non-trailer boats.

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

Hey! Thanks!

I called him. Might be making that drive over this weekend to see his inventory. He's got lots of boats within my parameters he says.

He's sending me info on a C27 with a "nice...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

Makeshift was a careless word choice... I am an engineer with limited people skills.

I wouldn't consider that makeshift in the true sense of the word. Honestly, I'm quite impressed by...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

Oh sweet!

Didn't even consider just renting a car hauler and a makeshift cradle. If I run into the boat without trailer that I want transported, I may hit you up later for suggestions / info on...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

C28 is off the list... had someone go look at it for me and it would need the keel rebuilt. They're asking an insane amount for one that needs that kind of work!

There's a 1983 Cat 27 here for the...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

Appreciate the recommendation! The 26x however as I understand is more of a Motorsailer. We're wanting to do some serious sailing in the next few years and ocean crossings but are looking for...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

True. I was thinking too, I could have a local trailer shop add brakes. Worst case, they'd have to replace an axle. I've had this done in the past on a dump trailer... it wasn't too bad even with...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

I'm not super interested in trailering regularly... we're working mostly full time + side business. When I get a chance to go sail, I'd rather be paying the $1k a year for a slip in South Beach or...

Re: Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

I've used uship for vehicles...

Again, this is for mostly fixed keel boats that don't have a trailer. There are uship contractors out there with adjustable trailer setups for keel boats? I didn't...

Truck Transport Suggestions + Where to look for a boat

Maybe I'm just googling wrong... I've contacted 9 transport services throughout the US. No luck with any of them. Mostly, they aren't interested, too busy already, don't do domestic etc. Haven't...
