Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

Not sure. I have installed systems totally Victron but haven't tested for capacity.

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

It depends on the BMS. Most like many Daly, Overkill Solar and others route the main negative through the BMS. This limits current - you have to buy a BMS able to handle your loads. So, yes most BMS...

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

I agree with the above to a certain extent. The Electrodacus (and the Orion at a much higher cost) do not pass current and control each charge source and load separately.

By the way Victron uses...

From Will Prouse:

Quick update for advanced LiFePO4 raw cell systems using a Daly BMS:
On my website I recommended using a separate port BMS for over voltage protection for the mppt connection...

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

I disagree, as does Will Prouse.

As long as the only negative goes through the BMS it cannot shut down charging without shutting down loads.

The way around this is to wire one either charging...

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

Make sure the BMS isn't common port. If it is when the BMS determines one cell is at it's maximum voltage the entire system will shut down - both charging and loads.

A good BMS is not common port...

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

Lythbattery sells Calb and other brands of cells. Grade A matched cells. They are great to deal with. Rita Sun is the sales manager.

I have purchased and received 400 AH of Calb cells from them...

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

You do not need the Smart Shunt and the 712. Pick one.
Both have the phone app.

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

My prices are also LythBattery - as recent as 2 weeks ago.

A good Daly BMS is less than 200 or so.

Best you build your own system - you will need to know how it works anyway.

Adding a BMS to...

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

Most modern chargers will work on 120 or 230 volts. 40 or 50 amp is fine.

Buy cells from Lythbattery. My 400 AH of Calb cost $902 US landed. Buy a BMS separately. The price you got for the...

Re: KISS Ocean Passage Lithium Setup

You could use a larger charger.

The Victron solar controllers would be best in my opinion. Fully adjustable in every parameter.
