Thanks, Chuck. District 7 (where I live) doesn't seem to split the course up into basic and advanced, but it's the same thing. Unfortunately, there is not one being given within commuting distance...

To those who have recommended the USCG Aux course - is this the one you're talking about? It's the most advanced I could find on their website. Thanks.

Don't know where you are, but ASA 105 is still listed at $100 at (among others) Blue Water Sailing in Ft. Lauderdale. Just to be clear, that's strictly home study - all they supply is the book, the...

If you are coming to these concepts for the first time, Slide 11 will surely have you scratching your head and eventually cussing someone out. I'm betting that's not the only rough spot in there.
