I agree...picking the gradient is more difficult especially in shore where the isobars direction are more variable...offshore they are more circular. So, some propose that you can know by looking...

Does this help? The flows are directional...so measure into low pressure and out of high pressure....and derive you hemisphere from you position....

I found the file from Mr. Burtch and when I finally got it copied into the right directory, problem solved. I didn't discover any OS/windows formatting issue either with the XML

I have been having trouble importing weatherfax images from NOAA OPC ->Atlantic using the WeatherFax_pi plugin. Other sources seem to work OK though I haven's tested them all.
