Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

I'm a diver, and the reason I will never use a Danforth sand anchor ever again was because I saw how pitifully the anchor worked. After setting in Fresh Water Bay, on our first dive, I saw the...

Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

All fine and dandy if you are on a mud or sand bottom. We have rocks that snag chain.

Also, those who use a 50' chain and the rest laid nylon rode swing a much bigger circle here in the PNW than...

Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

Interesting outcome. I thought that as long as the two were marked (which I'm sure they would have been), it was illegal for any boat to pass between them.

Wow! $500 for a range finder? Those are expensive!

The GolfBuddy is only $113, (https://www.amazon.com/Golf-Buddy-Golfbuddy-Laser-Rangefinder/dp/B07K1LYD1V) and it is very accurate.

Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

There you have it, experienced. We have what we call Weekend Warriors here in the PNW of Washington State. They arrive late, they set over you, then bitch because you are too close, ...as you watch...

Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

I agree that it is never cut and dry. I also believe that using an anchor marker/buoy has more to do with our safety than the liability of using one. Where we boat, using an anchor buoy/marker is...

Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

Not so fast, Dockhead. We were all alone when I anchored, and these were not actual anchorages.

You are also incorrect. If someone runs over a buoy - whether it is an anchor buoy, crab or shrimp...

Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

I briefly used an anchor buoy. I started with an A1, but some idiot ran over it. Thankfully, they had a line cutter, so I only lost the buoy, which they paid me for.

I moved up to an A2...

Re: When neighboring boat disagrees

I too have been on both sides of this, and have used a variety of strategies to overcome erroneous objections - that's objections you know are being made by someone who obviously has no clue what...
