the new style racing sails i have seen are kevlar and mylar. i have had bags made of this so i can see how it would hold up--it doesnt. after the teams have used them up,mebbe 2 more or 3 more...

even my20 yr old baggy and loose mizzen and shapeless reefed 100 percenter with bad sacrificial, didnt blow out in 60+ kt breezes off cabo san lucas--we had a tear in mizzen and we were reefed at...

seems to me that if one is going to buy a used sail for cruising backup and you can buy a decent sail for 100-XXXX dollars, and a new one is 10k usd, i would go for the used one. so what...

good used sails can be found at minneys, bacons, and some other places. folks who decide to change out sails every X number of years without using boat at all, people who want other sails than...

there is new vs used, high tech vs cruising--many kinds of sails--i like used. they work just fine for my needs, which is not racing.....
