lol i have both charts and gps with chart chips--i am fine, --what i am saying is not to become complacent about your belongings--they can disappear when you provision, unfortunately--so is best...

i have yet to find free charts f anywhere but contiguous united states. not usvi, not puerto rico--and these charts i found were via google earth a few years ago and many puters ago--that feature...

paper charts donot necessarily create a stack of paper---i stash mine is chart rack, and in tubes water tight for use when i get to that area in which they are needed.

paper charts are well kept in tubes with ends that are water tight so they dont become moldy or moist while not in use.
there are also antiquated and lovely works in wood called chart racks...
