much work doesnt have to be as expensive as it is. it really only takes wads of dough when you want to haul out.

solo-- we know these dont point inlight airs---heck-- they dont even MOVE in light airs--light airs , to me, being anything under 15 kts.
as for pointing-- they dont need to point. they sail fine...

also everything is easily accessed for repairing...lol not able to be said by those telling us our boats are crap because they dont point---lol is sooo much more to life than sailing INTO...

formosa 51 is a stout boat with issues as all boats have but there really are not many deal breakers as all is repairable and within rach without having to use a neonatal monkey trained...

i use jib n jigger when i have the predictions for high winds-- we did that and we didnt use engine a lot--only when no wind and boat was only going south at 1.9 kts....lol we even drifted a...

the formosa 51 is a proper cruising ketch. there are many systems to learn that classes nor captains will begin to be able to teach in 20 hours. do go to the formosa 51 owners group in yahoo...
