Main Halyard shackle

I remove the halyard when I close up the stack pack and attach it to help keep the stack pack up. Like Jim I must stand on a step to reach the head of the sail.

I am dealing with a shackle on my main halyard that is 46 years old. I like the design but can not operate it with one hand. I am looking at this one that looks identical.
