Honestly - I have yet to meet a sailor who wished his boat was slower.


I concur with your thoughts on wide vs narrow transoms the latter promote surfing but narrower transoms allow you to stay...

I agree. What do people envisage as less interior space? In my experience most larger cats fill them up with stuff, massive fridges, walk around beds, teak deck, hardwood trim, enormous dinghies that...

By definition this means that to achieve light wind performance the boat itself has to be light and more importantly be able to point high to windward.


To be able to achieve 8 knots boat speed...

Agree... I see so many couples, in particular, who are nearing retirement and the go buy a 50 ft plus production cat. Most have no idea of how to sail it and join a RTW rally in the misguidedly, IMO,...
