Oh, just because I don't understand much about fluid dynamics. My hunch is that the hole must have some impact on turbulence as water flows along under the hull and it's geometry would affect how...

Fair enough! (Although are you more certain w/ respect to the effect of changing the size of the outboard well? That option gives me more pause than the outboard plate.)

The point was that there is precedent for goofing with cavitation plate geometry.

If worried about removing area from the anti-cavitation plate (I would be too, but I'd probably do it if we were...

Hmmm - So have you considered grinding that half inch or so off the cavitation plate?

Something tells me the geometry doesn't have to be... exact. :)
