To use an analogy, I've only been on a few dates with the current boat and I want to make sure I'm with the right boat for the long haul (pun intended)

Tomfl....fair point and to that point it may speak to sticking with the existing one for a while as this is my first boat(that wasn't a family boat) and sailboat.

I would put my current boat on the market at a reasonable price so not to own two boats for long.

At the moment I do not have any live aboard plans. Just cruising down to Miami, Keys, Bahamas from where I live in Palm Beach.

The 42' just seems to haw more room to have friends aboard if I did...
