Re: Looking for opinions on helm seats
Yes, I could, and it's beginning to look as if I want the seat (any seat) to pivot in a sort of friction drag mount, I would have to design and build it, or at least modify some sort of small,... |

Re: Looking for opinions on helm seats
I don't have quite that amount of room there as I need to access electrical panels and vents. I suppose I could build a box with quick-release pins, however, as a box bench would be nice to stow... |

Re: Looking for opinions on helm seats
Nice, but a little too "coastal" for my needs, and it can't easily be adjusted or strapped down effectively, by the look of it. |

Re: Looking for opinions on helm seats
I would put a strong backing plate underneath and would through-bolt the pedestal firmly. But this is also why I would want a pivoting helm seat, to increase comfort and to reduce the shearing forces... |

Re: Looking for opinions on helm seats
That would be nice for the outside helm, or even for a nav station as it looks like you could keep chartbooks in it, but as I said, this is for the inside, pilothouse helm and must be adjustable for... |

Nice indeed, but that's a rail seat. I'm looking for a helm seat inside the pilothouse. Like this sort of thing: https://pilotchair.com/prod_images_large/billfishnarrowbolsterdown.jpg This would... |

Re: Looking for opinions on helm seats
A bit big and overstuffed for the tropics and the space required, but I did look at a salon chair briefly as it had a more compact seat. Besides, I need it to move fore and aft as well as up and... |

Re: Looking for opinions on helm seats
I actually considered something like an upsized "baby swing seat" hanging from a length of track bolted to the pilothouse roof, but I couldn't figure a way to dampen a puke-making oscillation... I... |
