I'm very familiar with the boats the OP is looking at. My example was based on a similar boat (silverton not searay) with a pair of V8's. The only way for your example to work is if you compare those... |

I think you are overstating the difference: We had a similar size boat to what the OP is asking about with V-drives. Assuming $3gal: - We got about 1.5mpg at 20mph. That translates to about $40/hr... |

At that size, you are looking at twin engines. The only real trick to remember with stern drives is to keep the wheel pointed straight ahead and then they will work pretty much the same as inboards.... |

Salt water, kept in a slip, go inboard (v-drive is a subcategory). Even in fresh water, You see them rot away when left in the water long term. Go down and look at a marina some time and tell me they... |
