Not a bad Idea! My old aluminum casting is getting a bit crusty. I like the double tie rod too.

Scott did a really nice job on his, but mine is under the floor boards.

I'm in the process of sealing the deck to hull joint. So far, I've pulled the old T-track/toerail and replaced all the fasteners and have added some glass filled polyester.

The yards cater to the naive/gullible or people that haven't any craftsmanship skills.
Also yard workers only do what is necessary to make the job look done. They'll leave behind those loose screws...

I want one too! Nice job! How did you get the holes in the mast to line up with the step.

Unless this is cosmetic or out in the salt spray you really don't need to polish it. But a passivation...
